If a report from WindowsLatest is to be believed, then we are set to witness Microsoft’s Android-powered smartphones soon. An article published on WindowsLatest states that a Microsoft employee has claimed that the company is working on a “new line of phones.”
The speculations have been made on the basis of a chat that has been posted in the article where a Microsoft’s agent said, “We will be creating a new line of phones for Microsoft. It’s like a new edition for Microsoft phones. It’s gonna be powered by Android that’s for sure.”
Recent Android app releases from Microsoft including Edge browser and Microsoft Launcher further fuel the speculations. Apart from apps, Microsoft has also launched many services for Android platform like Microsoft graph and Windows Timeline.
After a failed tryst with Windows Mobile, Microsoft is looking for alternate methods to enter the Smartphone market, and Android-based smartphones can be the entry point. With the host of apps available, the Redmond company could very well launch a phone offering a suite of the apps.
However, this report does not confirm that a Microsoft branded Android smartphone could soon be a reality and nothing has been made official as of now, and the agent, also, did not speak anything of specifications of the rumored lines of phones. It is possible that the store representative was speaking about an Android from other OEMs.
According to many previous reports, Microsoft has plans to launch a foldable, dual-screen pocket device with the codename Andromeda.
